Workstation optimization defines a work area that is set up in a way that maximizes safety, minimizes waste and supports the optimal flow of material. Workplace optimization seeks to reduce operator motion and movement and keep work in process inventory low. It is enabled by layout and visual controls. Often cellular arrangement of the workspace is the starting point.
