Another popular, structured step-by-step approach to Six Sigma as applied to design (referred to as design for Six Sigma or DFSS). The four basic steps of the methodology are:
- Identify the process improvement goals that are consistent with customer demands and enterprise strategy, and key design opportunities / ideas to achieve them.
- Design the new product, process, etc. utilizing innovation, inventive techniques and concurrent engineering methods.
- Optimize the design concept, using techniques like design of experiments and other methods.
Validate the product and process performance against expectations and resolve any issues or go back to the design step.« Back to Glossary Index
