We can identify and close the gaps between strategic goals and current process automation by using business process mapping, technical capability assessment, value stream mapping, and proprietary Kaufman Global methodologies.

Business Process & IT Alignment bridges the gap between your product and service commitments, and the tools that information technologists provide to support those commitments. This alignment process is closely tied to the development of a business case that details the bottom line benefits of using information technology.

Key Elements
IT and Business Process Alignment combines the concepts of business process mapping, technical capability assessment, value stream mapping, and Kaufman Global's SLIM-IT® model for clearly identifying the "gaps" between business expectation and process automation. Kaufman Global skillfully involves cross-functional teams to obtain long-term buy-in to the use of appropriate technologies.

Benefits
  • Incorporates the use of Rapid Improvement Events to implement immediate process improvements identified during the business process mapping activity
  • Eliminates several elements of waste through the judicious use of process automation. Through the application of value stream mapping, non-value added activities in a process flow are eliminated
  • Uses Kaufman Global's Lean Daily Management System (LDMS®) tools and techniques to monitor and track all elements of change associated with the implementation of new business processes, as supported by fully aligned information technology; extensive use is made of visual displays, enforcing a stronger engineering discipline for all project management activities
  • Ensures full and thorough assessment of any technology capabilities prior to launching an implementation effort
  • Involves the organization in mentoring, teamwork, and education, thus establishing clear expectations. Roles and responsibilities are clearly defined up front.
In Practice
Our project approach to delivering Business Process & IT Alignment generally follows three distinct work streams, which run concurrently. These work streams focus on:
  • Process and Value Stream Mapping
  • Technology Assessment and Functional Gap Analysis
  • Communication, Mobilization and Education
As the work streams become integrated, we address the challenges of cultural change associated with implementation and organizational realignment. Lean Daily Management Systems become the structures that hold this complex, changing environment together.
